A Prospective Observational Study on Changing Trends of Antiepileptics Prescription Amongst Physicians in India

Epilepsy is one of the common neurological disease affecting millions people worldwide. Multiple class antiepileptic drugs (AEDs) are available which makes it difficult to select an appropriate drug therapy for epilepsy. With introduction newer generation antiepileptics, Pool has become wider. Factors determine selection includes seizure type, adverse effect, drug-drug interaction, age, pregnancy, cost treatment and compliance. Though older antiepileptics were effective in controlling seizures, we found that gaining popularity among prescriber. Reason this shift being, better efficacy, fewer side effect compliance by patients. We completed study with conclusion especially levetiracetam, more preferred doctors comparison control though previous still role management epilepsy individualistic approach needed choosing antiepileptics.
